Does anyone know if registering a Leica product here will suffice for otherwise sending in the Registration & Warranty Application. I recently bought a new pair of binoculars and of course want the Passport Warranty for them. I hate to mail in the green card with all of my information exposed. I have always registered my equipment on the Leica website. I will probably call Leica NJ but was curious what others thought. The dealer where I bought by binoculars said Leica was very sticky about registering and I should do it right away.

I think you need to send in the card. I wish you could register on the site.

My experience was: I registered a lens on the site. It needed repairs and when I contacted Allendale I was told the lens was still registered to the dealer. I supplied a receipt and the lens was registered and Passport Warranty was issued dated from the date on the receipt.

Why not put the card into an envelope?

Michael,

That is exactly what I am going to do. I was just inquiring if registering at the Leica website was an option.

What exactly does "registering" do at the website other than have a record of what you own.

I routinely copy the warranty card, fill out the copy and place it in an envelop to New Jersey. Several weeks later I receive my Passport Warranty. Once or twice Leica needed a reminder call to send the Passport.

Bill

Just talked with Leica about this earlier this week and they said that the Members data is not available for Leica NJ to use since it infringes on privacy laws.
