Who likes the Leica strap?

I mean strap, duh.

I have bought and sold many a strap in my years. But the Leica Strap, I got from my long gone M6 remains a favorite. Not very sexy but it gets the job done.

I use them on everything. Even on cheap crappy Japanese cameras. :p

Isn't there a law against that?

I have used a Luigi strap, it is now on my M3, and granted, it looks beautiful. With the M240, I stuck with the Leica strap. It is lighter, very strong, and tends less to slip off my shoulder.

I dont really like the strap that came with my M240

its a bit on the short side, and i dont like the grippy pad, i would have much preferred a 1" wide nylon web strap.

I do like the ends though, they are very easy to attach

i will probably change the strap over to something like the A+A slider strap soon

The standard strap has always been a favourite, but the M240 strap is just a little bit better because the rubber pad is softer, making the strap easier to wrap around the wrist.

I am certainly glad Leica don't supply a wider strap because look what happens to those in the world of photography, words get printed in bright colours saying strange things like 'Nikon D600' or 'Canon EOS'. Given simply printing 'M' on the strap would leave a lot of empty space Leica could come up with some witty slogans, like 'HCB at work', or 'I'm considerably richer than you', perhaps '50mm is all I need'? Nah, it wouldn't work.

Simplicity is often the key to success. The Leica strap is one of those accessories which works so well (easy to attach, adjust, comfy in use, understated, etc.) that its never occurred to me not to use it or to look for a replacement.

Guest Mr. B

I like the original strap that came on my M6 very much. I like to lace it around my wrist while out photographing. I also use a Artisan & Artist wrist strap and together with the Leica strap the camera is very secure in my hand.

Hmmmm... Was pleased with strap on my IIIf, M3, M2R, M6, M7 and M9.

The M240's strap is the first one I replaced (Mano) as the rubber shoes kept slipping off and the scratchy wire was exposed. Seems like a new supplier of strap or rubber shoes which don't stay in place.

Looks identical to the one that came with the M9. That rubber(plastic?) shoulder pad is a nasty thing, but quite easy to peel off shred by shred using a fruit knife, with no damage to the underlying webbing. Feels and works far better without it.

Mine is returned to the cupboard, however, replaced by the Leica wide leather strap. And the MM has the leather one that came with that camera.

That rubber bit is the bit I hate, I will have to try cutting it off.

The strap is slowly growing on me, I do like the easy to remove ends, and the rubber pad isn't irritating me quite as much as it did

Can someone please post a pic of the current M240 strap?

The comments have me curious and I can't find a pic online.

Thanks in advance.

Peter -- as you can see by photos it looks like the earlier ones. IMHO the difference is in the execution. Particularly the rubber shoes although some seem to not like the pad too.

Guess we might all agree the dimensions may be the same but the execution is cheaper, wonder where if not the elves of Solms/Wetzlar.
