tobey bilek Posted February 8, 2014 Share #1 Posted February 8, 2014 Advertisement (gone after registration) Soon after getting my 100 APO set with Leitax mount, I took a tumble with a Nikon in each hand and mounted lens. The only thing that broke was the 100 APO, one of my favorite lenses. It broke in half with the 4 long screws through the mount pulling out. I could not get the aperture linkage to reconnect. The mount remained attached to the back half. I posted it up to DAG around Jan 1. Feb 5 I got an email telling me it was repaired and to send a check or PayPay. I did PP and had the lens the next day. He must be getting up to speed in the digital age as his repairs used to come back with a bill and I sent him a check. His choice and I don`t mind either way. I will not stiff him. Jim Kuehl used to send me new items like Leica cameras and lenses with a bill in the box. He requested return or check. Shows you how the world has changed. I have no idea what we are going to do when the independent repairers retire. I would bet Leica would not have the spares to replace the broken insides of the lens. It was $170 plus 20 shipping. Well worth it. And I do believe the image quality is a bit better now. I see no difference now wide open compared to stopped down. This is a superb lens on full frame Nikon.

Bill W Posted March 3, 2014 Share #2 Posted March 3, 2014 I have not heard the name Jim Kuehl in a long time. I bought a lot of gear from him over the years and yes he would send me a lens and say just mail him a check. There are a couple of dealer I can still do that with, it is too tempting though. They call me and say, "can I send this Monochrom I just got in?"
