Default about APO 180 f/3.4, 2.5M away from the subject...

I believe that almost all the R-system users(or even users of other system) know about this lens, R-APO-Telyt 180mm f/3.4...
Recently, I bought one of this lens and realize how sharp it is at infinity, and i was impressed big time last night when i developed a few B/W images produced by this lens.. but i heven't got a chance to try and see its performance when focusing on a object 2.5 m away....
i heard that this lens does not do too good when its focusing at its shortest focusing range(2.5m, about 7 feet), some says its even worse than the first version non-APO 180mm Elmarit at its closest focusing distance....
I will go try-out its performance on its shortest focusing distance next Wednesday, but before i do that, i will like you hear from all of you who would willing to give common on this lens at its shortest focusing distance; from your own experience, how bad does this lens perform at its shortest focusing distance.
Thank you very much....
p.s i almost never use a 180mm lens at its shortest focusing distance, no matter if tis 2.5m or 1.5m, so this is not really a problem for me at all. Just out of couriousity.....and i'm very very pleased with this lens' performance so far, just want to know more about it...

If this photo suffers from a lack of sharpness it's not something I've noticed.

Beitrag AW: about APO 180 f/3.4, 2.5M away from the subject...

Ryan,

the point is: no one ever said the Apo 3,4/180 is bad at its closest distance (2,5 Meter), but there are other Leica lenses with a closer focus ability. That's all.

Regards Moritz
