masjah Posted May 3, 2007 Share #1 Posted May 3, 2007 Advertisement (gone after registration) Well, I have finally said a fond farewell to my (almost) 9 year old Minilux. I saw a s/h CM in a London dealer's advertisement, at what I thought was a fair price, and bought it. Passed the Minilux on to a (delighted) friend who had seen some of my 15" x 10" prints taken by it, and who simply could not believe the quality from "just a compact". We're visiting NY next week, so I'll be giving the CM a good work-out then!
Advertisement Posted May 3, 2007 Posted May 3, 2007 Hi masjah, Take a look here CM for Minilux. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Overgaard Posted May 3, 2007 Share #2 Posted May 3, 2007 I have two Minilux' (a black and a silver) so I'm a bit reluctant to get the CM as well. But I guess that in the end I'll be having that too... It's a remarkable lens and one could hope they would do a digital no nonsense (full frame) CM with the 40mm some time in the future. Have a nice trip to NY.
rjans Posted May 3, 2007 Share #3 Posted May 3, 2007 John, Is the CM the only camera you take with you to NY? Within a few weeks I'm having a holiday in Tenerife. I just can't decide wich camera to take with me. Could also take my Minilux Zoom or go digital with the D-Lux3. My first thought was only the CM and using slides. The CM performs so very good with slide film. Any advise welcome Best
masjah Posted May 4, 2007 Author Share #4 Posted May 4, 2007 Roger I thought long and hard about this - whether also to take my R8 or R9 and some lenses. But no way was I trusting these to hold baggage, and the prospect of lugging them around both on the journey and around NY (when the primary aim of the visit wasn't just photographic) as well as the significant question of marital harmony, decided for me! I think you've got to ask yourself (a) what proportion of your holdiay is going to be biased toward photography and ( what sort of subjects are you hoping to photograph. Overgaard Posted May 4, 2007 Share #5 Posted May 4, 2007 I must say, I often travel with a camera bag with 3-4 cameras because it is nice to have cameras lying around and choose which camera-mood you are in whenever there is a chance. But the Minilux and CM invites to having only one camera with you because it's possible to do with that what most camera collections can accomplish. By the way camera bags for air travel exist, have a look at http://www.tenba.com/showSection.aspx?Sectionid=
rjans Posted May 4, 2007 Share #6 Posted May 4, 2007 Thank you for the replies. I'll remain at my initial thought and take the CM with me. Just have been looking into a travel guide and concerning the places to visit the CM is perfect fitted for the purpose. Best Roger

It is strange how they complement each other and both have yielded excellent pictures when bearing the load of responsibility. Good Luck on your trip.
