From the given examples and its interpretion in msg. #8 I get the feeling that you equal the expression of the subject with the mood or feelings of the photographer.
What I tried to convey is that a thoughtful photographer is responsible to record the moment and objective, straigth and 'as it is'. This, however, should not rule out a personal and responsible interpretation of the situation or the environment, in which a subject is in. I cannot comment on shooting celebs. If I got you right I would call it 'focus, snap, sell' attitude. But then again I must point out that it is the photographer who is in charge here.
