It is an excellent low grain film. My personal preference at 100ASA is Agfa APX 100 - tons of that around, both cassettes and bulk.

Neopan 1600 in bulk is the one I'm worrying about. Fuji plan to discontinue that so I'm going to be loading up on NP1600 bulk in Jan/Feb of next year.

This info was posted over in the RFF a couple of months ago. Searching over there will bring up the thread. From memory they are discontinuing certain B&W bulk film only production, but are continuing with all current B&W film cassette production.

As I understand when you open mentioned Japanese sites, on top of each site is photo of product in issue. And as I undersand, Across 100 will be discontinued, but 30 meter roll only. It seems 35mm cassettes and 120 are safe. Also what I understand it is Japanese market issue, don't know for rest of the world. On APUG forum you can find more and better informations if you want...

Sorry for not knowing more, I just wanted to inform you, and maybe someone will be more informed than me.

I'm not sure how long NP1600 keeps when it's frozen. I think the problem may be fogging due to background radiation and cosmic rays. Kodak used to store ASA 3200 film in deep salt mines to avoid cosmic rays.

Bob.

Bob thanks for the info but I'm not going to freeze it. I live in New England.

Ask Fuji. Presumably slow sales of bulk film. Here's the announcement posted July 20 on the Megaperls web site:

Fujifilm to discontinue black & white bulk rolls, Rembrant V papers

"This is bad news for everyone enjoying the great Fuji Neopan films by "rolling your own", i.e. buying in 30.5m/100ft rolls. We are disappointed to inform you that Fujifilm has announced that they will drop Neopan 100 Acros, Neopan 400 Presto, Neopan 1600 Super Presto and Neopan SS from their product line in March 2007. We expect a lot of stock-up purchasing before that, leading to fears that the pipeline will run dry long before that and will do our best to counter it. We recommend that you stock up well in advance.

Note that this does not affect the Neopan film supplied ready in cartridges. Neopan will not disappear - for now (?).

Rembrant V fibre based papers are also affected."
