Default Annoying login procedure in this forum

Things in this forum haven't changed since it was opened. After I log in, it takes me not too long before I am presented with a message that I have to login again. Typically after half an hour or so, or longer inactivity (although the browser window remains open). Very, very annoying. The old forum did not have this "feature" of recurring logins. My browser settings are identical to those when I used the old forum (only cookies that are returned to the original website are allowed).
This urgently has to change. Andreas, please !!!

One click and I'm in. any time. Perhapsyour browser needs re-configuring. Try Opera. It accommodates easy facilities like 'remembering' very well.

Cheers,
Erl

Works for me in IE at work and Firefox at home. Netscape makes me log in again if I close it.

That only occurs in Windoze, upgrade to a Mac to avoid the annoyance.

Of course, after 1/2 or even less of inactivity can leave your comuter vulnerable. I guess that is where Windows does look after you. Banks will insist on much shorter time frames.

One click to be back on for the sake of security seems pretty sensible idea to me.

Cheers,
Erl

Look in the preferences of your browser - and take a look how you manage your cookies. If your cookies are eliminated after every browser session you have to change that. Change to: "accept cookies - "except of" (here you make a list which cookies you want to eliminate, that means: your browser asks at every page if you want to keep the cookie or not).

Also look up your programs - maybe you use one that regularly and automatically cleans up your system and eliminates cookies as well as cache. You should then change that.

Regards,
Astrid

Doesn't do it with my old Windoze; only have to hit the site name in my "favorites'', and here I am.

Yeah, spend £1000 on a Mac so that you don't have to sign in every 30 minutes.

It might be cheaper to review your cookie settings! ;-)

Well, I am accessing this forum on both my Mac PowerBook and IBM ThinkPad, both under Firefox :-)
Clicking the remember me box was certainly the cheapest solution, now it seems to work...

I do wish the "response" didn't time out so fast. Otherwise no problemo.

I cannot get over how simple life is with the new forum. I don't seem to have to log in every time so I presume my Windows system remembers.

Posting pictures is less intuitive, though. Somehow I expect to be able to preview my new pictures before I press the launch button. That doesn't happen now.

I agree please change it as I cannot see the benefit of redirecting the user to a new screen to confirm log on
