Default Which Ultravid 8 or 10X

I am ordering a pair of 42mm Ultravids, as was wondering if there were thoughts on 8X vs 10x. I have a pair of 1960 vintage Asahi Pentax 8X30 binoculars, which I have been using since new. They have held up very well, but have lots of CA and I was interested in replacing them. I live on a lake and many of the interesting birds are pretty far out there on the lake. It is for this reason I am considering a 10x version of the Ultravids. I have never used a pair of 10x binoculars, and my only concern is with the equivalent of "camera shake". I consider myself fairly steady handed, as over 80% as my 1/15 M7 shots show excellent sharpness (even with a 75 LUX), but I am worried because I need much higher shutter speeds on my 5D to get the same results. Would anyone like to comment on the relative merits of 8X vs. 10X, and especially if "camera shake" is an issue at 10X? Thanks.

I have the 8x - 12x Duovids and the higher magnification is not a problem for short term usage. You might find that 10x gets a little tiring to hand hold for a long time, in which case you can look at their tripod adapter which is very convenient. You'll enjoy the clarity of the Leica binoculars, the image quality is stunning.

For my exp, 10x poses "shaking problems" only with the light binoculars, the 10x25; I noticed significant difference when you hold a heavier 40-42: go for the 10x.

don't know if it helps but I bought Ultravid 10x32 binoculars; they are simply outstanding and a perfect balance between performance, size and weight. I am mainly using them when trekking or in the mountains.
