Hi,
this is a bit Off Topic so my apologies first up. I don’t frequent other forums, all my photo friends are here so I thought I’d ask your opinions. Moderator please feel free to remove this post if inappropriate. Who knows though, the image may have been taken with a Leica? I have been asked to make some reproductions of an image of my Grandfather in uniform for my family members; The only image I have to work from is a studio portrait from around the 1940’s that is about 8x10 in size. I can make a scan up to 1200 dpi in res and have access to large format printing. The problem is that the original's print paper has an antiglare hexagonal like imprint finish and I am wondering if there is some kind of technique or Photoshop plugin that will perhaps remove this and improve the output? I have attached a crop of the eye area to show the effect. eye crop.jpg Any ideas? Thank you in advance Tim |

Hi Benutzer
I've playing arround and I can get to this... don't know how it would look like applied to your whole picture: http://www.leica-camera-user.com/att...d=11669653 77 First, open the image then duplicate your image in a new layer, make sure it is on top of the original layer. Next, apply the High Pass filter (Filter > Other > High Pass) I did it with a value of 2 pixel radius, but you might want to play with the values. Then invert the layer with the high pass filter. Change the blending mode to multiply, you will already see some improvement, although you might want to play with the levels (be careful because this might worsen the pattern) hope it helps. It's probably not the ideal solution, but I have the feeling that it's along those lines, which the high pass that allows you to isolate the hexagons from the image. Good Luck |

try also "normal" blending mode @ 30% opacity, after increasing the contrast of the high pass layer, you might get something slightly better.
I've attached the high pass layer and the final result. http://www.leica-camera-user.com/att...d=11669659 91 http://www.leica-camera-user.com/att...d=11669659 91 |
