Leica Repair USA--A Happy Story

I want to share this experience with members of the Forum involving repair of a Leica Digilux 2 that recently developed the dreaded CCD sensor defect. I sent it to Leica USA in Allendale, NJ last week, Monday Nov 2. Leica received the camera at noon on Wednesday, Nov 4. I then received the repair estimate letter from Leica ($0.00-warranty extended) in today's mail which indicated delivery of the repaired camera to me by Dec 9. I was delighted with the prospect of a roughly 4-5 week repair cycle.

 

But something most unexpected occurred, and this is the happy part of my story--I received the camera today via UPS, sensor repaired; Leica submitted the camera to UPS Nov 11.

 

So, by my calculation, it took the fine folks at the NJ repair station about one week to repair and return my DL2! I do not know about your experiences, but I have to say that this is an impressive performance by Leica Camera Inc in Allendale.

 

Tonight, I am a very happy Leica customer! :D:D

Michael, I have nothing but love & high regard for the folks in Allendale. Thaey always come to the plate & hit a homerun. I also have a D2. This is one fine camera. I can't ever image a day that I don't enjoy using it.
