With the Leica 500 mm telephoto lens you can have a long lens on your Leica SLR that is NOT longer than your arm, and NOT weigh as much as a gallon of milk. This relatively little beauty (Leica refers to it as “an ultra compact lens of catadioptric design”, but “ultra” is a relative term) works with all Leica SLRs that require two or more cams in its bayonet mount, including the R8 and R9. It has a built in lens hood, a thick lens case with strap, five filters that one mounts to the rear of the lens, and a rear cap. The front cap is somewhere in Madagascar, and is not part of this sale. I do have a snap cap that is not quite the right size for it, but it serves its protection service no more than adequately. In the photos below you can see some scuffing on the lens barrel, which I’ve lighted to plainly show the mars – in the hand the mars are less noticeable.
