Default Is the site having a moment?

Once I get into the sub forums it seems better, but trying to connect and get into sub forums is taking minutes. Being top heavy with animated adverts all I get is a grey screen, headers, and the deceased the R9 and half a dozen lenses blinking at me.

Its only happening this side. Buy and sell seems relatively uninffected...oops I mean....

I have noticed that at night, at exactly 1.00 hours, it blocks up and chokes for a few minutes.

So it's not just me that's noticed <grin>. Over here in the UK it's at midnight of course, not 1 am.

I experience the same issue at midnight (GMT+1) too.

I put it down to my New Year's resolution to go to bed on the same day that I get up having been broken - again.

I too get the Midnight browsebreaker. It lasts a couple of minutes then all is well. Clearly we are not sitting on an 11g database...

Regards,

Bill

No problem on this side of the world (GMT +12).

That's despite overall slow broadband compared with other countries.

OTOH, some sites -- photo.net, for instance -- take aeons to load.

I believe the problem is probably due more to site servers being under pressure than individual download speeds. Perhaps someone with some technical expertise could comment?

I agree: interminably slow download speeds is a major deterrent to visiting any site.

Its behaving like a shot duck at the moment. Last night it was three or four hundred seconds to download. Now its jsut taken me about seven goes to get in. I have no problems at any other site.

Got this message:

<<Safari can’t open the page “http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-...ply&t=84815” because the server unexpectedly dropped the connection, which sometimes occurs when the server is busy. You might be able to open the page later.>>

So this is my second try...

Usually there is no problem on this side of the world (GMT +12). That's despite overall slow broadband compared with other countries.

Some other sites -- photo.net, for instance -- routinely take aeons to load. I think the problem has more to do with servers being overloaded than slow download speeds on individual computers, but perhaps someone with technical expertise could comment?

Hmm, IT -- as reliable as?
Ah well, I'm off on my Vespa in the sunshine...

That's at midnight UK time. Something's happening, but you don't know what it is, do you Mr Jones.

It's OK now.

Default AW: Is the site having a moment?

Starting at 01:00 MESZ the server starts its daily backup of several GigaByte, including the database which has also GB size.

Annoying but makes sure that we still have a copy if a crash occurs.

Regards
Andreas

Default AW: Is the site having a moment?

Hi Andreas,

everytime I close the forum in Firefox and then want to re-check it, I have to re-log in. Although I did not lock me out before leaving.

Two suggestions:

1. - Did you check the "Remember me" option when logging in? This can help!

2. - Please check your Firefox preferences regarding cookies. If cookies are deleted always after closing the application, the forum can't recognize you whenyou come back.

Regards
Andreas

Friday June 19: Got the "sleepy forum" effect at GMT 23:03 (01:03 Frankfurt time). Found this thread, which explained it. Nice to have. For some reason I am often on the forum at that moment (5 p.m. Mountain Daylight time USA)
