William
Michael Richard's Smugmug gallery has a dark, but not black background. Photography by Michael Richards - powered by smugmug Would that suit your needs better? (Unfortunately, it will cost you $40 a year though) (Nice gallery there, Michael, if you're reading this )

Hi Andy!
With the introduction of the dual-core processors Mac has "crossed-over" in this respect: the "Homepage" website templates are accessible by either PC or Mac, but the iWeb pages are Mac-only (and you have to buy the iLife software if it doesn't come installed on your computer). There's even a file-transfer utility for PC onto Mac servers now. I just uploaded some files to iDisk this week using it, from my home PC onto the Mac servers in Cupertino! I did notice that the iWeb pages that I made are all built on templates derived from Dreamweaver, which I also have on the PC. So there's at least some co-utilization of software beginning to appear. Thanks. Allan

Well my simple question started off quite a debate!
I found the new LUG gallery software a bit of a pain at first, although I'm finding my way around it a bit better now, although it was much simpler to use previously. Similarly the software for this forum I found a little difficult at first, and I still prefer the old forum's software, because I am a simple soul . I'm perhaps a little confused about how this forum operates, we seems to have lots of sections which appear which were not asked for but then we have a vote on wheter we need a Cars forum and the answer is "yes", albeit by a narrow margin yet it seems that we are not to get the cars section now. The reason I suggested the separate cars section was that I was conscious that quite a number of folks are not interested in autos and people like myself, who post a fair number of cars shots, were perhaps in danger of spoiling their enjoyment of the Sports and Leisure section. As for the Gallery, I don't see the need for it ....... Cheers, Pete. |

My guess would be there would be a real cost associated with a users gallery. I suppose if the site charged for the space then people could start paying upload fees.
Be interesting to see what would happen when people are eventually required to put their money where their argument is. ![]() |
