In the next few weeks we will start a new startpage.
A preview can be found here: Startseite - Leica User Forum What's your opinion? Any suggestions? Cheers Andreas

Non German readers are going to need a bit of explanation re what is actually being shown here, so that we can comment constructively.
I'm not sure about the categories all down the left, but if it gets rid of some of the google generated ads we have been suffering... ![]()

Do we need the calendar?
I tend to prefer a forum list, I've not too much interested in the latest posts. I tend to work through the forums when I'm reading posts. Does that make sense? I realise that's just my view, others will probably have other ideas.

Definite "NO!" to the big photo on the home page option.

Hello to all. I am with Steve with regard to the forum lists. I much prefer to surf among the various lists such as the ones for the " M8 " and for " Film ". It would seem to make getting where you want to go a whole lot faster......................

Disagree. It's a photo forum, not just a gear forum. I think there ought to be some cool photos from the members.

By all means have thumbnails of recent shots along the base of the page, or in a panel at the side as we have now. To be honest, I don't think that there's much wrong with the set up as it currently exists.

What does the start page actually do? I see a large grey area for "news" which has nothing in it yet but which I probably wont read, and I want to see whats new in the different forum areas not the last five, ten or whatever consecutively replied threads.
Clicking "forum" brings up http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/ so I'll go straight to that anyway. There is probably some organizational reason for the start page though? |

No, the new home page is not for me. I read very few of the postings and I just want to get there as quickly as possible. But the Forum page is still there, so no problem.

I vote to get there quickly as well. No photos to slow me down.
I would like Barnack's bar to be available from the International Forum as I've bookmarked the Int Forum as my start page. I'd really like to view the German section pics, but have no idea what the sections are or what the pic is. The discussion can be done without, but some translation of title would be fab. Rolo

Keith, no problem here, is there a button marked 'Andern'? If so click on that.
I've added this line using that.

Thanks Steve - yes there is "Andern" on my post above but I went to correct a typo in my post on James Ravillious and there was only the "Zitieren" label. Lets hope we get our English labels back soon! French and Italian I can do (and a bit of Welsh!) but our German Master at school had as his nickname "Sow" - enough said about my German language skills!

Keith, you have a limited time in which to edit post - I think it may be 30 mins. After that they can't be edited.
My German teacher's nickname was 'woof' - his real name was Westerdale, how imaginative eh. He also had a small moustache that was virtually identical to that of the most famous (or infamous) German of the 30s and early 40s. A little eccentric, he used to grow vegetables in his front garden.

Have to say I don't like it. It's too much like a clone of RFF, which I find a nightmare to navigate around. I like what we have - it is clear and plain and functional.
Regards, Bill

The good news is, that the forum will stay like it is under the same URL. The main purpose of the new start page: - Creating a page that is recognized as English by Google - Giving a quick overview what the forum offers (Gallery, Wiki, Buy & Sell) and what's going on there Best regards from Bonn Andreas
