A good idea Steve, I've been having similar thoughts myself for a while and I do think it's going to be necessary.

As for the PanaLeica's, well they could have their own sub-forum too. Perhaps called just that, or maybe 'compacts and 4/3rds' (I'm sure someone can come up with a better name than the latter .

Great idea! It might help break down some of the siege mentality that I feel has gripped the M8 forum.

Plenty of posters there strongly object to anyone who doesn't currently own the camera from commenting on it or on Leica's future plans, and there are people like me with plenty of M-lenses and both film and digital M-mount cameras who are interested and want to participate.

while you're modifying forums to match the current or upcoming situation after photokina, why not discuss the idea of merging (for example) the "people" and "menschen" photo galleries. people photos are people photos, i think, irregardless of the language used for the comments, and i'm probably not alone in browsing both sections for good work and ideas.

greetings from hamburg

I posted this in a thread http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-...sub-forum.html on the Digital forum but thought that it might be a good idea to repeat it here. The originator of this thread, Steve, and other contributors also posted in the Digital thread.

"This discussion continues to crop up from time to time but then seems to fizzle out. Ultimately it's up to Andreas of course, he owns the forum after all and no doubt has put in a great deal of work to make it so successful, perhaps he has higher priorities at the moment but a poll might be useful.

For what it's worth I think that a reorganisation of the forum along the lines discussed above would be very worthwhile. Barnack's Bar is fine and the Customer Forum too, if it still serves a purpose for general matters Leica. For the others though, sticking my head above the parapet, I would prefer to see:

'Film' (perhaps with Film M and Film R subs if necessary)
'Digital M'
'Digital R'
'S' (an S system is coming, like it or not)
'PanaLeica' (or whatever, perhaps P&S/Compacts/FourThirds)

The names could well be different but you get my drift. All IMHO, of course, and with respect to Andreas for a great job so far".

As others have pointed out the digital forum is mostly clogged up with PanaLeica (no offence intended) p&s stuff these days, so perhaps it's time for a further reorganisation. What do you think, Andreas?

Sounds like a good idea -- once the R10 arrives. But I think we need to be careful not to have too many sub-fora sprouting up. Reason being, you are likely to miss good stuff that could be relevant to the whole forum.

It's a fixed-lens camera based upon the Panasonic DMC LC-1 so......PanaLeica (or Digital Other) I would guess.
