Until the middle of last year, it used to be part of the Leica web-site - remember those 4 coloured squares. Their whole web-site was re-worked for the M8 launch and the forum moved out but still hosted (IIRC) by Leica. Since then, it's completely independent and paid for by the advertising and our thanks are due to the people who contribute their time to make it work and moderate it.

As Mark said the forum was originally part Leica, but they decided that they no longer wanted to have the forum as an official part of the Leica empire - short sited in my opinion, but it's their choce.
