Thread closing

I think we should stop wasting bandwidth here. Oblivion is the best place for it. Closed, unless someone can come up with a compelling reason to open it up again.

As I can't respond in the "fab files" thread, I'll do it here.

Two reasons why I don't think you should have closed the thread, Jaap.

1) I don't believe that a moderator's job is to determine what is "wasting bandwidth". Threads die a natural death and sink without trace when they are no longer of interest.

2) Despite the OP's insistence that there should be no replies (what a load of bollocks that is) he does raise a potentially interesting point about whether a small format camera like a Leica is ideally suited to the kind of compositionally perfect LF work exemplified by the photographers he mentions.

I moved iyour post here, Ian.

I have no strong feelings here.

As I see it this was a meaningless thread with an OP who did not wish responses. There was a tendency to start attacking the OP. Some members requested closure.

So it seemed best to me to close. If a number of people want it reopened I'll happily reopen it, but as i see it it is best off resting somewhere at the bottom of the forum.

I dunno what the original thread was about but agree with Jaap that there is no point in starting a thread and not wanting responses. That's not what the forum is about. Surely, a poster cannot dictate that there will be no responses?
