Advertisement Posted June 16, 2013 Posted June 16, 2013 Hi Thomv, Take a look here Has the M9/MM forum become very boring?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rafikiphoto Posted June 16, 2013 Share #2 Posted June 16, 2013 Most of the threads are about the 240, EVF's and all that. And I am loosing interest in this forum. Am I the only one? I definitely think that a separate section for the MM is in order. After all we are an elite, niche group, and especially as I decided today to cancel my order for an M240 and stay with my X-Pro 1 for colour. BerndReini Posted June 16, 2013 Share #4 Posted June 16, 2013 No, you are not the only one. I think the reason for this is that the digital camera market has become very boring. The M8 was groundbreaking, the M9 the full-frame reiteration, what is left? We have everything we need to take great pictures in good light. Everything new being released from any camera manufacturer is aimed at taking pictures in bad light (higher ISO capability, more dynamic range etc.) or with less intention (higher frame rate, faster autofocus etc.). Well guess what, photography has been around for over a hundred years and few good photographs have ever been taken without firm intention and in bad light.

Paul Verrips Posted June 16, 2013 Share #6 Posted June 16, 2013 you're not the only one:). I still prefer to read about the M9/M9P and i am less interested in the M240 at this moment. Since i'm using Leica M, i don't feel the need to buy new stuff every 1 or 2 year(s).

Perhaps the way to go would be to separate the M240 as it is quite different?
pieterpronk Posted June 16, 2013 Share #8 Posted June 16, 2013 I definitely think that a separate section for the MM is in order. After all we are an elite, niche group, and especially as I decided today to cancel my order for an M240 and stay with my X-Pro 1 for colour. I have even heard rumors that they made focussing easier with the M240. That's a sliding slope to auto focus. Focus by numbers for the kids. Anyway, real men shoot Monochrom and we really should have a separate section for our elite niche group away from the color-shooting kids... CMOS... Pffff

BerndReini Posted June 16, 2013 Share #10 Posted June 16, 2013 After returning the MM I was lucky enough to borrow for a week, I am currently in need of an Agfa Scala forum, but only for another three rolls, then I'll be back in the Neopan Across section. darylgo Posted June 16, 2013 Share #11 Posted June 16, 2013 Perhaps some picture taking would relieve the boredom.
rafikiphoto Posted June 16, 2013 Share #12 Posted June 16, 2013 Perhaps some picture taking would relieve the boredom. Why would you assume those here are not taking pictures? I don't see any evidence for that assumption just a cheap smart-ass jibe from you.

Sorry that you construed it differently, maybe you should look at your own assumptions. Edited June 16, 2013 by darylgo
rafikiphoto Posted June 16, 2013 Share #14 Posted June 16, 2013 It was intended to be constructive. Sorry that you construed it differently, maybe you should look at your own assumptions. No assumptions here. How 'constructive'? Aren't we all taking pictures and then taking time to comment here?
macjonny1 Posted June 17, 2013 Share #15 Posted June 17, 2013 No assumptions here. How 'constructive'? Aren't we all taking pictures and then taking time to comment here? It's a common theme around here. Person B becomes disinterested in Topic A, which leads to "go take some pictures instead of discussing Topic A". Meanwhile while Person B is writing this comment about Topic A, he/she is also not taking pictures. The assumption of course is that Person C or anyone else should consume themselves totally with taking pictures and if they spent less time discussing Topic A they would be a better photographer. wda Posted June 17, 2013 Share #17 Posted June 17, 2013 Usually, if a forum becomes boring and ill-supported, a moderator will consult on future arrangements. Perhaps there is a case for having a forum dedicated to the newest M models (MM, M and possibly M-E), then when they are ultimately replaced the threads can be moved to the Mature-M title which hosts discussion on the older models? We should not forget that members new to Leica ownership do so with one of the older models, such the venerable M8.
earleygallery Posted June 17, 2013 Share #18 Posted June 17, 2013 You are the forum. If you find it boring then you're boring too. Try posting something interesting. Be part of the solution not the problem!
Thomv Posted June 17, 2013 Author Share #19 Posted June 17, 2013 You are the forum. If you find it boring then you're boring too. Try posting something interesting. Be part of the solution not the problem! M9 owners are happy Leica owners, but usually not interested in video or EVF's. But then again, topics about the M9 family are perceived as boring by 240 owners and vice-versa. Hence my suggestion to cut the forum off at M9/MM and not the M8 as it is implemented now. And I agree that any and all forum activity is boring compared to actually using the stuff!
Guest Posted June 18, 2013 Share #20 Posted June 18, 2013 You are the forum. If you find it boring then you're boring too. Try posting something interesting. Be part of the solution not the problem! +1 I think the Forum has become less focused recently and become more about scoring points related to ownership of equipment. The realy interesting posts where in the year after M8 was introduced when we had lots of problems to solve. BrianP
