Shootist Posted November 22, 2011 Share #1 Posted November 22, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm posting this from a Mac notebook using safari that I'm working on for a friend. Using any of my Windows PC, 7 or XP, on multiple PCs using either Chrome, latest version, or IE, 8 and 9, When I click on almost anything, like the title box or text entry box or the Submit Reply button (or just about anything), I get taken to a ebay auction for a Leica lens. Is anyone else seeing this.
Advertisement Posted November 22, 2011 Posted November 22, 2011 Hi Shootist, Take a look here what is going on?????. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
psquared Posted November 23, 2011 Share #2 Posted November 23, 2011 I'm glad somebody else is having the same problem, too. I find that quick reply works OK, but regular reply or new post do not. I've tried latest Safari, Chrome, and IE on two different PCs, one running XP and the other Windows 7. Safari on iPad2 doesn't work either. I've purged cache on the PCs and rebooted them with no improvement.
pico Posted November 23, 2011 Share #3 Posted November 23, 2011 That happened to me earlier today but I cannot replicate it. Something is rotten... .
Shootist Posted November 23, 2011 Author Share #4 Posted November 23, 2011 Well I'm posting this from my WIN 7 PC using the QR function. Lets see if it works. The Mac I was using to start the thread is from 2006, Tiger, with that version of Safari.
Shootist Posted November 23, 2011 Author Share #5 Posted November 23, 2011 Just tried again with the Post Reply button and as soon as I clicked in the text area I got the ebay auction. Funny but that ebay auction shows up in a second tab. I'm using Chrome, my default browser everywhere, but earlier I tried IE 8, on XP, and then 9, on 7, and the POPup blocker kicked in. jaapv Posted November 23, 2011 Share #9 Posted November 23, 2011 (edited) I have received a number of similar complaints and have forwarded them to Andreas. Weird! Btw, my iPad does not exhibit this behaviour Edited November 23, 2011 by jaapv
Michael Hiles Posted November 23, 2011 Share #10 Posted November 23, 2011 Same issue. Windows Vista, Opera. I tried posting a picture using New Thread and the same problem happened - couldn't do the post. If Someone buys the lens, will the problem go away??!!!
djcphoto Posted November 23, 2011 Share #11 Posted November 23, 2011 In the Leica Deals 'subnav' div, there is an unclosed '<a>' tag that is effectively making the entire page a link to that auction.
andybarton Posted November 23, 2011 Share #12 Posted November 23, 2011 No problem here. It's just a software glitch that will soon be fixed. Are any of those suffering, subscribers?
menos I M6 Posted November 23, 2011 Share #13 Posted November 23, 2011 No problem here. It's just a software glitch that will soon be fixed. Are any of those suffering, subscribers? Please read Dave's post above, subscribing the cause of the issue. Mac OS X 10.7 with Safari 5.1.1 here - same issue, the whole forum frame acts as a link to the eBay auction, basically opening the auction site, when clicking ANYWHERE in the frame, including reply field, etc … Nothing to do with subscriptions, just a fault in the website. wattsy Posted November 23, 2011 Share #14 Posted November 23, 2011 I suspect that the problem only affects non-subscribers. Presumably subscribers don't get the eBay ads and, therefore, don't have a problem with the missing </a> tag?
NZDavid Posted November 23, 2011 Share #15 Posted November 23, 2011 Help! Forum just about unusable. I have only just been able to post this after half a dozen attempts. "Software glitches" seem to be par for the course these days -- "snafus" is an apt term -- yet they have the power to derail businesses and create mayhem. Please fix asap! andybarton Posted November 23, 2011 Share #16 Posted November 23, 2011 Please read Dave's post above, subscribing the cause of the issue. . Sorry, I must be missing something. I can't see where Dave says that he's a subscriber, or that it only affects subscribers.
andybarton Posted November 23, 2011 Share #17 Posted November 23, 2011 I suspect that the problem only affects non-subscribers. Presumably subscribers don't get the eBay ads and, therefore, don't have a problem with the missing </a> tag? I don't get eBay ads, as a subscriber, so I have not seen a problem. I use the "Plain Vanilla" skin. This Forum isn't a matter of life and death, and I am sure Andreas will fix things as soon as he can. If you want to see how to completely ruin a business by diabolical web design work, have a look at what they have done to AirMiles.co.uk . LUF Admin Posted November 23, 2011 Share #18 Posted November 23, 2011 SORRY - my fault! The reason were three missing characters as djcphoto described: In the Leica Deals 'subnav' div, there is an unclosed '' tag that is effectively making the entire page a link to that auction. This made the whole forum page a link - and send my eBay click statistics through the ceiling (thanks for that...) Now everything should be OK again... jaapv Posted November 23, 2011 Share #19 Posted November 23, 2011 Look at that: i just made a late edit to my post above ( added a p to comlaints), and the forum doubled up my post! I' sure it is just a software glitch,
