This happened to me with identical results (only that it was a 35-mm Summilux). The stiff focussing was completely gone after I got the lens back when I had it coded for the M 8 without any surplus costs though the lens was out of warranty. (Some different experience with the Leica Service which is often critizised on this pages...).

So there is hope that it can be repaired - even if you probably will have to pay for it if you send it in order to solve the problem.
