Default Re: If you are not interested in M8 please SHUT UP!

The last thing I want to do is put an $80 filter, which after retailer profits, distributor profits, and multiple freight charges (from manufacturer to exporter to distributor etc) is a $1 piece of optically questionable glass on my $3,000 lens.

Go back and have a careful look at the front lens element of any lens, usually 10-20x the thickness of any filter. The collective lens elements of any optical design did not plan to have a $1 piece of 3mm glass with unknown optical properties in front of it.

I spent my first 25 years of photography shooting with all of the above said red, yellow, UV, skylight and polarising filters. But was recently enlightened (pun.. intended) to shoot my Leica without filters.

Has anyone else noticed all those newly posted M8 photos showing "with and without" the Cut filters......... yes the blacks are now blacker, but notice how many of the other colours are also changed..............
