Hmm ... that's odd. My D-Lux4 case seems only a few mm larger than my D-Lux3 case - as you'd expect to accommodate the hot-shoe and 3 mm more width.
The dimensions are:
DL4: 109(w) x 56(h) x 27(d)
DL3: 106(w) x 56(h) x 26(d)
If I shake the case with camera in it (open
or closed) it doesn't rattle so there's very little extra space around the camera. There's just enough room so that the camera glides in and out smoothly without sticking or snagging.
I don't have my DL3 or case anymore so I can't compare directly but from memory there's not a lot of difference between the cases. YMMV.
