Just a compositional decisions I guess. to me the far bigger sin is to cut someone off at the waist, neck or knees like this:

As far as 6 out of 9, the young girl had her hands rolled up in her jacket and the sadhu has the tip of a finger under a brown thing. I wanted to shoot them as they were. I guess 4 out of 9 ain't bad?

William, I thought it was because of using a viewfinder camera. If I donīt think when shooting at portrait distance I have to much much space above the head.
I like it more to have the head near the upper end of a picture, I think it adds tension.
At the portrait of Eliades Ochoa I didnīt want to have the door in the background cut.
