Re: Grip or Luigi Case?
Hello Cho,
I use the wonderful Thumbs-up CS (Cold-Shoe version). This little device is a rare thing - it's ingeniously simple and simply transforms the handling of the camera. The difference is quite extraordinary! It also looks good on the camera. Choose the CS version to retain the use of the accessory shoe.
I have a full Luigi case too, specified to accommodate the Thumbs-Up. I love the Luigi case for its old-world craftsmanship, the quality of its leather and the way it complements the M8's classic look. It genuinely protects the camera from minor knocks and scrapes.
The Luigi case does make the camera feel larger in the hand, but personally I like that. The one down-side is the slight irritation of having to remove the case to replace the battery or SD card ... but that's really the consequence of a design conceit on the part of Leica.
Luigi is a phenomenon that's increasingly rare these days - he's a gentlemanly, personable purveyor of bespoke craftsmanship of the highest order. His leather goods are pleasing to own, to look at, to hold, to smell! Above all, Luigi's stuff has style.
Oh, by the way, I specified my Luigi case to incorporate a tripod mounting. It works just fine, but further extends the process of removing the case.
