CS5000 (12bit color), max neg size 35mm
SCS5000ED 16bit color, max neg size 35mm
SCS9000ED 16bit, max neg size 6x9.
Only the 9000 can use a glass neg carrier, but the 5000 series can use bulk feeders and film strips.
I have both the SCS5000ED and the 9000ED. Although both are 16bit, the 9000ED seems to produce better tonality. I'm guessing that the 9000ED uses better quality A/D converters etc, which it ought to at more than twice the price.
