As the depth of field is so narrow at f/1 the movement of your subject and your own ability to stay still is much more significant than any supposed backfocus.
This lens is so much fun on the M7 or the M8. Great for lowlight, moody portraits with lots of shadow.
I take it to the restaurant, to my friends' dachas, on picnics - anywhere I'm going where the light's going to be low or where I want to play with light and shade.
That's the spirit in which you should approach this lens. Stop taking it so seriously!
Maybe the price rise is a sign that more people are open to the joys of this lens.
