I think they'd be better off contacting a few professionals and coming up with a few stellar images. Maybe they think they can get something cheap this way. And from the looks of it most of what they are getting looks - cheap.
A big problem is very few people bother with the art that needs to take place after the picture has been taken. That is a given whether it's a $500 camera or a $5000 camera. I've never taken a pic in my whole career that doesn't need some kind of work after the fact.
