Psychologists Daniel Kahneman (Nobel Prize 2002) and Amos Tversky have taught us the "disposition effect", which crudely points to a behaviour anomaly, whereby a person will not sell something he/she owns, even for a price they themselves would not be willing to pay for the same item. This is what I teach my students, anyway, and I find myself in the same situation, but there is a limit here someplace.
