Synthetic leather soft lens pouch
You can find them at most camera stores. They keep dirt out and provide protection to your lens from scratching and banging around. You can fit the lens into the pouch and pull the draw the strings tight to prevent the lens from falling out. Then you can put the lens in your pocket if you wish.
If you don't have any luck at your local camera store try getting a lens pouch on-line. I have a Canon soft lens pouch for every Canon lens I own (except the big lenses they come in cases and hard pouches).
I also have soft pouches for all my Pentax K and M42 mount lenses.
Once you get the size that your lens can fit into you are done.
