I have to confess I've never seen the point of these half cases. The one part of the camera they don't protect is the most sensitive - i.e. the upper part containing the rangefinder - and they just seem to make changing film more difficult. With the M3/6/8 I only have to flip the camera upside down while wearing it on a strap and I can use both hands to remove the base and change the film/SD card.

I'm not advocating that people are stupid for buying them, but I really don't see the point myself.
