Default Re: Sensor Cleaning - Kodak speaks

Alan, I do not know what therd party fluids would be appropriate. I am a bit puzzled by the preference of so many people for Eclipse cleaning fluid. I have never used this but from my limited understanding, the original Eclipse fluid contains Methanol which is contrary to Kodaks preference. I do not know what the composition of their new E2 fluid is but my guess is that a pint of 200 proof Ethanol or a good grade of isopropanol is less expensive than a pint of Eclipse.

I tried to find Eclipse in three different camera stores (two were Leica dealers) in Amsterdam last week while on vacation and none had any. A local pharmacy was able to supply a 100 ml bottle of high purity 70% isopropanol for 5 Euro. I would prefer a higher concentration as explained in the original post. Time to get out the Fisher Scientific catalog!

Regards,

Michael
