octo Posted December 18, 2011 Share #41 Posted December 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) Can't book that early yet but the date fits in nicely between two events so I'll count myself in.
Advertisement Posted December 18, 2011 Posted December 18, 2011 Hi octo, Take a look here Copenhagen: FINAL CALL. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
stunsworth Posted December 18, 2011 Share #42 Posted December 18, 2011 Must have been a server problem at easyJet's end. Flights now available for about seventy five quid. That's the price that was showing in Kayak yesterday (excellent app by the way).
andybarton Posted December 18, 2011 Author Share #43 Posted December 18, 2011 I use Skyscanner, just to compare, and I have started to use TripIt to organise stuff, which is brilliant.
Paul Verrips Posted December 18, 2011 Share #44 Posted December 18, 2011 Hi all, Can someone tell me a few things: What is this challenge about; How many people usually join the challenge; Are there any rules; Is it individual or groupwise; Regards, Paul
andybarton Posted December 18, 2011 Author Share #45 Posted December 18, 2011 (edited) Here's a link to the arrangements for the Venice Challenge we had last year. http://www.l-camera-forum.com/leica-forum/forum-member-meetings/142844-venice-meeting-arrangements-etc.html We all meet, use One camera, One lens (no zooms), One roll of film (or 36 digital exposures), have Two hours to take One best shot, which then gets voted upon by the Forum membership at large. There is a €10 entry fee, which this year was donated to the same charity as the Forum Charity Book. There are usually a couple of dozen members there, depending upon where it is held. Copenhagen might be one of the more popular destinations. There were 12 of us at the first one in London and over 40 in Berlin So far, we have been to London, Amsterdam, Paris, Berlin, Krakow, Valletta, Venice and Palermo. farnz Posted December 18, 2011 Share #46 Posted December 18, 2011 Paul, Please see the first post in this thread, which sets out the rules for the 2011 Palermo One Challenge. The One Challenge is a light-hearted challenge run on trust where entrants meet at a chosen location and each entrant is allowed to use one camera, one lens, one film (or one ISO setting for digital) to expose up to 36 shots within a 2-hour time period (it was originally a 1-hour time period but it was too restrictive). It has always been a social event and very enjoyable and over the past few Challenges numbers have been around 30 including wives, partners and other "family support crew". Pete. stunsworth Posted December 18, 2011 Share #47 Posted December 18, 2011 Advertisement (gone after registration) I thought zooms were allowed provided they were used at a pre-agreed single focal length? It's a social thing too, a chance to meet other forum members and handle a wide range of equipment.
farnz Posted December 18, 2011 Share #48 Posted December 18, 2011 I thought zooms were allowed provided they were used at a pre-agreed single focal length? .... Zooms have been allowed on this basis for the past couple of years at least. Pete.
bill Posted December 18, 2011 Share #49 Posted December 18, 2011 Zooms have been allowed from the outset - at the first Challenge in London I used an LC-1 @50mm Regards, Bill
andybarton Posted December 18, 2011 Author Share #50 Posted December 18, 2011 Yes, but you're not allowed to zoom it.

andybarton Posted December 18, 2011 Author Share #52 Posted December 18, 2011 You would be more than welcome to join us Just booked my flights - £151 for two of us, but for some reason, easyJet thought that we are French. Maybe we will be by the time October comes round
Ellie Posted December 18, 2011 Share #53 Posted December 18, 2011 Perhaps I'll drive down (or take the bus) to Copenhagen, it's just a few hours away. It's a long time yet though.
schmolinski Posted December 18, 2011 Share #54 Posted December 18, 2011 (edited) Hi all Has anybody an idea for an apartment in Copenhagen? Thanks in advance. Edited December 18, 2011 by schmolinski
stunsworth Posted December 18, 2011 Share #55 Posted December 18, 2011 We tend to meet in a cafe or bar, have something to eat/drink, go out individually for two hours, them meet back at the original meeting place for more photography chat.
andybarton Posted December 18, 2011 Author Share #56 Posted December 18, 2011 What generally happens is that we meet at about noon, for coffee and a cake or a beer and a panini, or whatever, then the two hours starts at around 14:00 Then, afterwards, you can rejoin the other members at the coffee shop or go on your way. We now try to have a communal meal in the evening too. You tend to find that people bump into each other over the weekend. The whole thing is as much about the social aspect as it is about the taking of photos.
andybarton Posted December 18, 2011 Author Share #57 Posted December 18, 2011 Looks like we've answered a non-existent question
StS Posted December 18, 2011 Share #58 Posted December 18, 2011 (edited) This is quite flexible, we meet in a café, have a chat, start the two hours, where everyone is on his own, and this is all, in principle. Most of us meet again in the café after the competition, but this is up to everyone. In the evening, there is a dinner, which is optional as well. As you see, the whole event is most flexible. Even the required parts are not checked by anyone, since one is spoiling one's own fun, when not sticking to the rules. Edit - sorry Steve and Andy, crossed posts Stefan Edited December 18, 2011 by StS see above
