so there are some R-series lenses which use this system, are there? This might be a handy thing to know, as the Hasselblad filters are hard to find.

PS James you are brilliant, your clue has helped me solve the mystery. The filter is a Leitz Series 8 UVa, and there is a whole range of Leica series 8 filters which will work just fine on the 'Blad wide-angles, including the early SWC. As these Hasselblad filters are getting scarce and expensive, this is good news. So what Leica lens are they intended for?
