      M240 as first rangefinder (in 2024)?

      M240 makes perfect sense as a first rangefinder, even if it is older. It is the cheapest FF digital RF option now, a M10 will be around 70% more expensive and the M10-R (latest model before the M11) will be more than double of the M240. I think the M240 prices bottomed out so it will probably keep its value better than the newer models. Its up to you to decide how much you want to invest in a rangefinder to see if you really like it. You seem very confident since you plan to buy both analog and digital RF... I would certainly try one out before I buy a second one. So my advice is to maybe buy the digital one first and use it for a while before going for the film body. The LV will give you more options to test your own focus accuracy and the calibration of your lenses for example. The other  option could be an M9, but that one is even older and has more limitations, no video, no LV or EVF and most important sensor corrosion issues which make it a bit more expensive than the M240 to find one in perfect working condition. If you can find one with a replaced sensor (done by Leica) I can recommend it too. Of course you have to deal with 1-2 stops less DR and low light performance and 18MP vs 24MP, no LV and EVF, but it is as close to a film M as it gets. Of course I have nothing against the M10. It seems to have a slightly better RF, but I do not think that will be the most important advantage. The RF of all older film bodies is inferior to the M240 RF anyway (with the exception of M3 and MP possibly), and few people complain about that. If your budget allows it, then go for it for the improved low light, colors, DR and so on... In that area, I think the M10-R and M11 are the best options today.

      So  after using my M11 for over a month, it finally froze. It has actually happened a couple of times already. It happened while shooting with high continuous. Before that, I had been using single shot or low continuous and hadn't had any issues. I have the latest firmware. It's funny that we have €8,000 cameras and have to be happy with occasional hiccups. With the M240 and M10, I never had this issue. Actually, with the M240, I had the camera lock up perhaps once or twice during five years, and the M10 never really locked up. Worts part is the lack of acknowledgement from Leica or any statement that they are working on it... it's been 2 years since the camera was released.
