  4. Checked the manual, checked the wise world of Google/GoGoDuck, and searched in this forum but could not find out what is the information displayed in the far right side of the footer line in the EVF. In Play mode, it displays the total number of images taken, got it. But in shooting mode, before pressing on the shutter, it displays "1k" and if I partially depress the shutter button, it displays "L 64". Is "1k" the number of images I can still take based on my resolution settings? Cannot figure out what the "L 64" means. I am talking image and not video mode. FWIW, searching the Q3 manual, all it says about the footer is "Header with recording information, footer with exposure information, auxiliary display". Thanks in advance.
  5. To add to the story Maarten started, there's a very long story in English on Wikipedia about the Dutch Y vs. IJ : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IJ_(digraph) Pete, we'll organise an exam on this topic the next time you visit 😁 B.t.w. I read in this article that the famous Rotterdam football club changed its name some time ago from Feijenoord to Feyenoord, so there must be some spelling law that in a city the number of y's and ij's needs to remain constant, which might explain changing Boymans to Boijmans 😮
  6. I have been thinking of the SL as a camera for my M lenses. I've tried them on both the SL2 and now the SL3. I don't notice a size or weight difference og Sl2 and SL3 i praktis. But I don't think it works. Not to me. It is WAY too big a camera. I buy Sony mirrorless for those tasks and let my M handle M lenses. By the way, my M 50mm is quite good on the Sony. However, I have tried my M lenses on CL and it was a completely different god experience. But unfortunately Leica has the choice not to continue with CL. It's really a shame. So M lenses on M body.
  7. I've been seeing the same for the last few hours, though otherwise problem free. I've seen it before and wouldn't think more about it if there wasn't for the other reported problems. No adverts, MacOS, Safari, no VPN, wifi to fibre broadband. I've just checked my iPhone 13: Brave browser, same result whether 4G or home wifi. And my PC: Windows 11, Brave browser, ethernet to fibre broadband.
  8. YES!! Ich denke, das war den Versuch wert 🙂 Grüße, Elmar
  9. So where do you now mount a tripod or plate? The more you refine it the less usable it becomes.

  13. Before summer starts, I have a question about frosts. Could you help me with that? How Vario and APO lenses made for SL-cameras perform in weather conditions I prefer to name 'normal'? It's about -5-10C and less, what is typical for Finland. I heard new SL3 tested and ready to work in this temperatures, but I couldn't find information about the lenses.

  15. I'm not too much of a fan of the bottom plate. And I also don't think it is necessary that it can be tilted outwards with a hinge. Isn't it possible to make it fit so tightly around the edge of the screen that it can just be pressed on like a cap? The simplest is often the best.
  16. Thank you for your explanation, Maarten, and I look forward to seeing you again. 😊 Pete.

  18. To complicate things a little more: we have three letter combinations that sound similar, the y, the ij and the ei. The y is used mostly in foreign words and in posh family names. The ij is treated as one letter like in the river IJssel. The ei is used for example in the name of the city Leiden (where I grew up). In all cases the pronunciation is the same. By the way ‘een ei’ is an egg. Next time: welcome to Holland and the double Dutch!

  20. I was also told 10 weeks for a repair when I brought my M11 back for a Visoflex connection problem. Il was back after 4 weeks. Good surprise. The shop is your only contact, don’t call Leica, it’s useless and just consumes their limited time 🙂 i hope you will have your M11 back soon. i am an amateur, no pro. If I were a pro, I would never use a Leica. Why ? I was asked to cover a private event, the M11 froze at the worst time, hopefully I had my trusty old Nikon dslr ready « in case of Diva behavior »… not fun…
